For those of us who look forward to boating season each year, the restrictions around visiting Lake Tahoe make sheltering in place even more difficult.

In a world where we need to handle most things virtually anyway, there are a number of ways to experience the beauty of Tahoe from the comfort of your home. It’s not the same as being there of course, but it is the next best thing.

Here are some of the best virtual options to tide you over until you can get back out to the lake:

Tahoe South’s Webcams

These live webcams show Lake Tahoe from several great vantage points, such as Stateline, Timber Cove, Ridge Resort, Sierra-at-Tahoe. During normal times, people use these webcams to check the conditions at the lake, but it’s also a great option for taking in the stunning views.

The bottom of the page also has links to webcams from other websites, including Lakeside Inn & Casino as well as Edgewood Tahoe, for additional viewing. Note that a few of the other external links aren’t working correctly because of business closures.

Keoki Flagg’s Tahoe Portfolio

Another great option for experiencing the beauty that Lake Tahoe offers, is to look at some of Keoki Flagg’s beautiful photography. Keoki is a world-renowned photographer who has lived in Squaw Valley for over 25 years.

Flagg says “Tahoe is the ultimate palette with its ever-changing characteristics,” a perspective that really shines through in his photography. If any particular photo catches your eye, he also sells prints directly on his website.

Tahoe YouTube Channel

This YouTube channel primarily focuses on high-quality videography to display the beauty of Tahoe South. However, it also has some informative videos that can help with planning future trips, such as interviews with locals, footage from festivals, and more.

Tahoe Facebook Page

Facebook offers a lot of great pages related to Lake Tahoe, as well as groups like this one to find photos, videos, and information. It’s also probably a good place to commiserate with others who miss the lake just as much as you do.

At GoldKey Marine, we understand how tough the current boating restrictions are. The links above allow you to enjoy the lake virtually while you’re sheltering in place.

Since these restrictions won’t last forever, you can also spend some time preparing for future trips to the lake. For example, here is a refresher on Lake Tahoe boating rules. A little bit of research now can make you better prepared the next time you take your boat out on the Lake.
